Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care (PVESC) is a growing multi-specialty and emergency veterinary practice in beautiful Portland, Maine. Our new 42,000-square-foot hospital is opening soon, creating exciting opportunities to grow with our expanding surgical and specialty services.

We’re looking for an organized, detail-oriented team member to support our surgical department by ensuring instruments, equipment, and operating rooms are clean, sterile, stocked, and ready for every procedure.

What You’ll Do

• Clean, inspect, assemble, and prepare surgical instruments for sterilization
• Operate and maintain steam and ethylene oxide sterilization equipment
• Maintain aseptic technique and sterile fields
• Perform sterility checks and re-sterilize implants and inventory as needed
• Monitor and maintain OR inventory and supply levels
• Clean and disinfect OR rooms, equipment, and surfaces according to hospital protocols
• Restock instruments and supplies and maintain an organized surgical environment
• Support the surgical team in maintaining a safe, efficient OR

What We’re Looking For

• Veterinary or surgical experience preferred
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Basic understanding of surgical instrumentation and sterile technique
• Detail-oriented and committed to safety and infection control
• Able to stand, bend, stoop, and move throughout the hospital as needed

Schedule & Compensation

• Full-time
• Monday–Wednesday, 9:00 AM–7:30 PM
• Saturday, 8:00 AM–6:30 PM
• Some holidays required
• $22–$27/hour, based on experience
